Previous Last Fridays Concerts

January 25, 2008
The Council will present Ain’t We Got Fun: A Musicale, featuring WP Haines and Co.  The 8 pm show at the Masonic Lodge will present a musical review of the late 1800s and early 1900s.  This pre-vaudeville era, sometimes known as the “Opulent Period”, was a time of high-stepping cakewalks, Ragtime, and impressionism.  The upright piano was being mass-produced, and sheet music was readily available.  The popular music of the day could now be played in everyone’s parlor, and the piano was the portable music player for the urban sound.  In Chicago, St. Louis, and New Orleans, if you went to a party, this is what you would hear.  And, if you went to a club, you might have heard a pop singer of the day, such as Bert Williams, singing these songs.

December 21, 2007
Jim Watson will perform his annual Christmas Concert.  For the third straight year, Watson is playing, in addition to his traditional Christmas show at the Cave, a second show in Hillsborough.  At each show, Watson will do one sing-along set, as he has right from the very first Cave show in 1986.  He'll pass out lyric sheets to help people with those tricky second and third verses.

His newest release, November 2006, called "Eyes So Soft," has also won awards and garnered superlative reviews.

His unique style of music provides an instrumental, inspirational journey with an infusion of jazz, Latin, urban and gospel sounds. Chris Robinson has truly combined his deep love for jazz, his love of gospel, Latin and contemporary urban sounds to create a work that will surely make the new artist a force to be reckoned with. On this release, he brings together some strong new material in addition to some familiar favorites and added a strong contemporary twist - one of the most important ingredients in an artist's success.
