Cultural Center Committee

There is a major push underway to find a cultural center to serve Hillsborough and northern Orange County.  A building is needed to house performance space, a gallery, classrooms, a museum, arts programming, etc.  The need has become apparent after several groups around town have struggled to find space to host events and classes.

The Hillsborough Arts Council hosted an Art Summit on December 8, 2007 to envision what the arts would look like in Hillsborough in the year 2013.  Many community members expressed a strong need for a community arts center.

A steering committee arose from that conference and has been meeting monthly since then.   The committee has named itself the Cultural Center Committee.  Many partner organizations are allied in the quest.

The Cultural Center Committee meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7 pm at the Hillsborough Artist Cooperative (102 West King Street, above Tupelo’s).  We welcome your comments.  If you would like to leave a phone message, please do so with the Hillsborough Arts Council (919-643-2500).
