Riparian and Oceanic Interactive Watercolors

The Gallery at the Hillsborough Arts Council features "Riparian and Oceanic Interactive Watercolors” by Renee Montague at 220 South Churton Street. The work is a series of watercolors created by interacting with the Eno River at Ayr Mount in Hillsborough and the Atlantic Ocean in Wrightsville Beach. Her method of interacting with these bodies of water includes working ‘a plein air’, submerging the papers into living waters, capturing the energy, movement and mood of the surrounding environment with vibrant watercolors and allowing the papers to dry by the sun and wind. Due to the unique response of watercolor to salt water, sand and river silt, these watercolors take on a life of their own following the intention of the artist, but expressing the nature and chemistry of the waters. The show runs from April 28 through May 21. Opening reception on April 30 from 6 – 9 pm.  For more information call (919) 732-5001.
