"Carolina Landscapes" by Michael Brown
"Frangile and Strong" by Vicki Essig
ENO Gallery at 100 South Churton Street features "Carolina Landscapes" a collection of all new work by Michael Brown. Browns new work successfully expresses his perceptions of nature, rather than creating exacting representations. Brown states "It’s no surprise that painters still turn to the natural world to explore their visual understanding and express their artistry. There is no richer interplay of shape and color than that found in nature."
"Frangile and Strong" features Vicki Essig’s new work is comprised of fine hand-woven fiber, silk, horsehair, and other natural materials. Small found objects find a home in her subtle pieces. Essig says: "I am fascinated with light and translucency, the contrast between the fragile, and the strong. My work is comprised of fine handwoven fiber. I incorporate into these weavings, small found objects that find a home in the subtle piece."

Tom Willis. This group of paintings is now shown for the first time
together in one exhibition. The War Paintings were initiated about ten years ago in response to our wars in the Middle East. However these works are not specific to any one conflict but address the overall theme: War. The works on exhibit are unlike any war paintings you have seen before. Willis, a North Carolina native, has been painting for over forty years and is excited to invite you to meet him and share your views on a topic that concerns us all.

Free Spirit / Freedom Exhibit
The Gallery at the Hillsborough Arts Council at
220-B South Churton Street features the “Free Spirit / Freedom Exhibit”, an inaugural exhibition including
photographs of people, places and documents that illuminate the history
and culture of peoples of color of Hillsborough and Orange County.
Focusing on the church, schools, politics and the arts, the exhibition
will document the accomplishments of minority leadership in a collection
of images recording the march forward of all minorities, including
Native Americans, African Americans, Hispanics and all peoples of color.
The inaugural exhibition was open to the public as part of the
celebrations honoring Dr. Martin Luther King on Monday, January 17. The
show runs from January 15 through March 12. The opening reception was
