Gail Schaefer is inspired by the majolica pottery tradition that was brought to its height during the Italian Renaissance in the fifteenth century. Fruits, vegetables, plant and wildlife comprise the subject matter of her work and she employs the sundrenched colors of the Tuscan earth.
Marcia McDade studied in the ancient hill town of Cortona early in her development as an artist. Her discovery of the local Quatrocento painters, their landscape tradition and the bold timeless colors they employed, left a lasting effect on her rolling hills and the patchwork of land in her Piedmont to Blue Ridge world.
