Fine Music in an Intimate Setting

Tokyo Rosenthal
Saturday, September 30, 7:30 to 9:30 pm

Join us for the final parlor concert of the year on Saturday, September 30 at 7:30 pm featuring Tokyo Rosenthal.

In a career that started with the country rock boom, Rosenthal has honed his craft and "Rootsy/ Americana with a little blues thrown in" sound to perfection. His move to Chapel Hill, North Carolina allowed him to team up in the studio with the famed producer and recording star Chris Stamey.

Rosenthal made his reputation while living in Rhode Island, New York, and Los Angeles. He headed such groups as the legendary Harpo and Slapshot and Treo Gato as well as solo endeavors. This has helped him receive radio airplay in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Europe. While content to let the critics compare his style to others, Tokyo doesn’t hesitate to point out his influences, who include The Band, The Byrds, The Indigo Girls, Gene Clark, Emmylou Harris, and Janis Joplin.

Sorry folks, this show has been canceled.

On Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 4 pm the Hillsborough Arts Council is hosting a very special PARLOR CONCERT at the Churton Grove Clubhouse at 500 Churton Grove Blvd in Hillsborough featuring Violet Bell. Violet Bell is Lizzy Ross and Omar Ruiz-Lopez.

Based out of Durham, NC, these two artists make folk-soul music that sings in your bones. Lizzy Ross made a name for herself in NC and beyond with her stirring original songs and "a voice like cigarettes and the smoothest whiskey you've ever tasted" (Stephen Markley, Chicago RedEye).  She has won Floyd Fest's On the Rise contest and been awarded the Carolina Music Award for best rock female as well as an Emerging Artist Grant from the Durham Arts Council.

Multi-instrumentalist and composer Omar Ruiz-Lopez (Jonathan Byrd, Crystal Bright, the Durham Symphony Orchestra) elevates the music with violin, guitar, cello, mandolin, and stellar vocal harmonies. Whether they're playing an intimate acoustic tune or sprawling out in psychedelic revelry, you can feel the magic.
