Gallery & Gift Shop Manager
Gallery & Gift Shop Manager!

The Gallery & Gift Shop Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of the Hillsborough Arts Council’s (HAC) Gallery & Gift Shop (G&GS), which currently serves as HAC’s physical presence in downtown Hillsborough. Responsibilities are performed with considerable independence & reviewed monthly by the Executive Director. The G&GS Manager serves as the primary point of contact point for consignment artists, G&GS volunteers, and walk-in customers/visitors. The G&GS Manager curates and merchandises artwork for sale to the community & directs the activities of the G&GS volunteers and part-time staff.
*Local candidates only. This position requires work on-site in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

2+ years applicable experience managing an art gallery, gift shop, retail store or working in another relevant industry
-
Experience managing a team and volunteers or staff members, including schedule management
-
Demonstrated ability to work with artists, the public, & a diverse volunteer/staff is a plus
-
Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems, tablets/computers, and other technology.

Inventory management and financial sales reporting experience is preferred.

Marketing and social media management experience is a plus.

College degree in an applicable/relevant field-of-study is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of merchandising techniques, store display, & sales tactics

Good oral & written communication skills

Problem-solving, customer service, and creative skills

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to adapt, collaborate, and work independently

Familiarity with local and regional area, including customer & audience interests

Hourly position: 30 hours/week at $17/hour
