The kids are heading back to school and the leaves will soon start to turn, which can only mean one thing - fall is almost upon us. Although I am hoping the summer weather will stick around a bit longer, I am thrilled to share the exciting programs coming up this fall in Hillsborough. We are excited to have a full lineup of events on the calendar through December.
For music lovers, our biggest annual event and HAC fundraiser, the [FREE] River Park Concert, returns with an all-star lineup on October 19, plus great local food, drinks, and artist booths at this day-long music festival. Don't miss the Awesome Beans Fundraiser on September 15 at Nash St. Tavern at 4:00 PM, which raises funds for the concert. We also have two more Last Friday Concerts coming up featuring great bands and so much more.
We have a couple of great opportunities for artists as well - our Paint It Orange: Plein Air Paint Outreturns in September. This plein air competition will feature artists from all over the region painting at sites throughout Orange County. We are pleased to have guest juror Linda Dougherty (Chief Curator and Curator of Contemporary Art for the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh) joining us this year as well. Registration for this event is now open. Artists should also be on the lookout for our 2020 Art in the Heart: Art Fair announcement later this fall. Artists will soon be able to submit an application for jurying for one of our 45 artist booths at the April event.
We're very pleased to continue our partnership with the Hillsborough Classic Film Society, they will screen a great lineup of films during the remainder of the year. Plus, our friends at the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough and Orange County Historical Museum have some fun fall-themed events planned (in italics below).
