Elaine O’Neil has gained local and regional fame in how she artfully captures the local flavor of the triangle through textile collage. O’Neil recreates notable views and beloved spaces in her own distinct Folk Art style. Originally from Maine, O’Neil has lived in Orange County for many years and now calls Hillsborough home. She continues to delight the town with new creations, regularly portraying the town’s street scenes, historic sites, and rural charm. www.elaineoneil.com
One of O’Neil’s recent creations, The Wooden Nickel, depicts the façade of the Wooden Nickel at 105 N. Churton Street, a local business that moved to 113 N. Churton Street last year. The former, and original home of the Wooden Nickel was lovingly recreated in fabric to memorialize a favorite local pub and gathering spot in Hillsborough.
The Wooden Nickel measures 26 x 32” (framed). The retail value of the artwork is $1,200. One winner will be drawn at random from all entries. The winner will be responsible for providing proof of ID and claiming the prize within 15 days of notification or a 2nd winner will be drawn. The winner will be responsible for pick-up, transportation, or shipment of the piece once claimed. This raffle serves as a fundraiser for the Hillsborough Arts Council, all proceeds from raffle ticket sales support the mission and programs of the organization.
