FYIs & Logistics!
Parade Staging:
Parade Start:
4 PM
Churton Street Route:
RAIN PLAN:
Right now, the weather looks terrific! However, here is the rain plan in case things shift. All HAC events are rain or shine. Because of everything that goes into the Weekend of Art, we are not able to offer a rain date for this experience. This parade may be canceled for dangerous or prohibitive conditions, like high winds or rain that might put market tents, equipment, puppets, artists, or the public at risk.
-
If projections are very light sprinkles or low percentage, everything will move forward as planned. If this is the case, please plan to wear rain gear.
-
If we have no choice but to cancel, we make a public announcement by email, social media, and a notice on the HAC website first thing Saturday morning.
PARKING FOR PERFORMERS/WALKERS:
Burwell School has a small gravel driveway behind the schoolhouse, off West Union Street. This will be accessible for dropping/loading giant puppets/large equipment. After loading, please park nearby at:
-
Mt. Bright Baptist Church: 211 W Union St, Hillsborough, NC
-
Town Hall: 101 E Orange St, Hillsborough, NC
-
Town Hall Annex: 105 E Corbin St, Hillsborough, NC
STAGING:
Find a staging overview below to give you an idea of where on the lawn your group will be stationed. Everyone should check in at the HAC Info Booth when they arrive (the blue square on the map). If you are not with a specific group, we will assign you a Zone. We will also have extra puppets that you can choose to carry if you do not have your own costume!
POST-PARADE IN RIVER PARK:
We expect the parade to end at 5-5:15 PM with a jamboree, "puppet petting zoo”, and meet-the-artist interactions in River Park, nearby the Handmade Market. After the parade, please feel free to enjoy the market. Handmade Market will close at 6 PM.
If you have borrowed a puppet, you will leave it at the David Price Farmers Market Pavilion for us to collect.
