Volunteer with the Hillsborough Arts Council!

We are a 30+ year volunteer-run nonprofit organization. We could not do what we do without the support of dedicated community volunteers. Please fill out the form below to share your interests in volunteering so we can pass it along to the appropriate committee and/or program chair. You will also find a list of some or our other volunteer needs with direct links or alternate instructions for applying.

We will thoughtfully consider how we can best match your interests, skills, and availability to our opportunities. We look forward to meeting you soon!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Hillsborough Arts Council. We are a volunteer-based organization and are always accepting new participants. Please take a moment to fill out this form and someone will contact you and connect you with the programs and activities that match your skills and interests.

Hillsborough Handmade Parade Volunteers:

The Hillsborough Handmade Parade is a grassroots community participatory celebration sponsored and organized by the Hillsborough Arts Council. This Mardi Gras style street parade is completely created by the community and includes wild costumes, giant puppets, stilt-walkers, marching bands and much more creating a spectacle of art, creativity, and public theater and music. The next parade will take place in fall of 2020. In order to make this event and our puppet-making workshops a success, we need LOTS of volunteers on the day of the parade as well as at our workshops. If you are interested in volunteering, please COMPLETE THIS FORM to indicate your interest.

River Park Concert Volunteers:

River Park Concert is a volunteer-driven, grassroots, FREE outdoor music event made possible through the cooperation, coordination and support of many local civic, corporate and private entities and is brought to you by the Hillsborough Arts Council. This year, we expect up to 5,000 people to attend and we need volunteers to serve in a variety of capacities on October 19 to pull off this event! CLICK HERE to sign up for a two-hour shift.

Gallery & Gift Shop Volunteers:

Want to spend an afternoon surrounded by beautiful locally made artwork? You can become a volunteer at the Hillsborough Arts Council Gallery & Gift Shop and help others learn about our work and the arts around town! In addition to greeting our wonderful customers, you will sell a variety of artwork from local artists and answer questions about the Hillsborough Arts Council and other local programs and places of interest. We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable greeting customers, processing sales with a user-friendly point of sale system, interacting with our artists, accessing the internet, using email, and being an ambassador for our community. There are also opportunities to do special projects as needed/desired.

The Gallery & Gift Shop is open Wed-Sat, 12-4 pm and on Sundays 1-5 pm. During Hillsborough Last Fridays Art Walk (last Friday of each month) we are open 6-9 pm. We like for our volunteers to be available for at least one shift per month. Volunteers have the option of predictable or flexible shifts. A brief orientation and an opportunity to job shadow another volunteer will get you on your way! If you are interested in volunteering at the Gallery & Gift Shop, please APPLY BY CLICKING HERE or stop by the Gallery & Gift Shop (102 N. Churton St, Hillsborough, NC 27278) and complete an application.
