Hillsborough Artists Coop & The Skylight Gallery

MONTHLY HAPPENING:
Opening Reception: Here, There and Everywhere by Kristin Smith plus Finding Inspiration Everywhere by Joanne Zitko, 6-9 PM. Works using and combining mixed medias, including watercolor, acrylic, photography, and sketches.
ABOUT THE VENUE: Est. 1992, the co-op began as a group of individual artists creating art at 102 W King Street. We are currently eight artists who use a wide range of media and share a quest to expand the presence of art on the planet. We open our studios monthly sharing our latest work. Recently, we began creating Coop Special Events where we, in collaboration with guest artists, create interactive art experiences for the public.
Hillsborough Gallery of Arts

MONTHLY HAPPENING:
Opening Reception: Group show Flights of Fancy, featuring terra cotta pottery by Garry Childs, colorful landscapes by Pat Merriman, and carved, hyper-realistic scratchboard art by Sally Terrell, 6-9 PM.
Live Music Local singer/songwriter Rory Dale. Her music explores her emotional landscape with nostalgic lyrics and a hypnotic acoustic sound that draws from folk and indie pop genres.
ABOUT THE VENUE: Owned and operated by 20 local artists, HGA represents these established artists exhibiting contemporary fine art and fine craft. The Gallery's offerings include oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, metal and figurative sculpture, mixed media, encaustics, enamels, pottery, fiber art, jewelry, mouth-blown and fused glass, painted gourd art and hand-crafted furniture as well as artist prints and cards.

Macfie Kat Studio

MONTHLY HAPPENING:
Art Reception: Come visit our larger than life flower garden installation on the studio porch, 5-7 PM. Then, step inside to see some spring and flower-themed art.
ABOUT THE VENUE: Visit local artist Kathleen Macfie in her studio to see works in gouache and oil, whimsical prints, and wooden bracelets featuring beads hand turned in Estonia. We like to say we have the loveliest perch for people watching in all of Hillsborough and often have installations of nature-inspired paper art happening on the studio porch. Come and enjoy a world of imagination!

Margaret Lane Gallery

MONTHLY HAPPENING:
Opening Reception: Group show Bridges! Meet bridges of all kind -- and the artists that illustrated them, 6-9 PM.
Opening Reception: Rafting Down the Grand Canyon of the Colorado, with original oil paintings by Ari Ferro, 6-9 PM.
Live Music The Travelin' Mercies, 6-8 PM. Mary Rocap and Megan Whitted share the songs that tickle their fancies, touch their hearts, and fill their souls.

Opening Reception: Group show Nuda Veritas: 5th Annual Exhibition of the Nude in Art, featuring nearly a dozen remarkable artists and selections from the proprietor's personal art collection, 6-9 PM.
On Display: A selection of distinctly local landscape, trail, and garden paintings by Thomas Stevens as part of the Hillsborough Climate Challenge.

ABOUT THE VENUE: The gallery features distinctly local landscapes, evocative figures, drawings, sculpture, and artworks by Thomas Stevens, plus inspiring exhibits showcasing remarkable guest artists throughout the year. Upstairs is Suite 42, the working art studio of Thomas Stevens and a unique Last Fridays venue for music and spoken word performances.

ABOUT THE VENUE: First, built in 1821, the Burwell School Historic Site is a gem of historic Hillsborough, NC, located at the northern edge of the town's famed Historic District. Restored and open to the public, the early 19th century house and outbuildings bring history alive for visitors of ALL ages! Visit this site to explore the complex, multi-layered stories of freedom seeking and oppression through the lives of Elizabeth Hobbs Keckly, Mary-Ann, Anna Burwell, and more.

ABOUT THE VENUE: The Visitors Center is a resource for information on local attractions. There is also a gift shop, a folk art gallery, and a video on historic Hillsborough for public viewing. In addition, the Visitors Center is located in the Historic Alexander Dickson House, one of the most historically significant buildings in town.
Public restrooms are available on-site.
