We encourage you to pop up a lawn chair, lounge on a blanket, or bring your own art projects to participate while you witness Live on the Lawn through writing, coloring, painting, knitting/crocheting, or any mobile art that lights your fire!

The Magic of African Rhythm is a Durham African drumming and dance company that connects us to our African heritage across the ocean. Baba and Mama Shabu began working on the bridge in the 1960’s and the Shabu Family continues this cultural tradition today. The African concept of Ngoma, the “rhythmic thread” that links drumming, singing, dancing, and visual arts together, is expressed in all their performances.
