Sarah Holihan Smith

Sarah Smith has written poetry since she was a child. The first poem she remembers writing was about a Pegasus, and was written in a playful cursive on teal paper. Sarah's poetry is lyrical, in a confessional form that allows intuitive exploration of emotion through life's experiences. Sarah lives in downtown Hillsborough with her two daughters.

She frequently reads poetry at open mic nights and has joined other talented writers for Noir at the Bar, hosted by Yonder: Southern Cocktails and Brew. She has an MFA from a writing program in Louisville KY. She grew up in Ohio, and is currently teaching remotely for the Women's and Gender Studies Department at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. She will be working on a collection of poems this year with the goal of publishing her first volume.
