Hillsborough is a creative community…

Thousands of artists; hundreds of musicians, painters, writers, potters, poets, performing artists, and arts educators; several arts venues

... but just ONE Hillsborough Arts Council!

For decades, HAC has been elevating artists of all walks of life through programs and events that bring together neighbors and strangers to celebrate unique experiences we all shape collectively. Our eight major programs were designed to be free of charge and annually attract over 20,000 friends and tourists. HAC has built an incredible legacy, primarily bolstered by volunteer dedication, but cannot sustain on the previous model. Now, a new vision rests on the horizon - a vision of solidified foundation, radical unity, greater impact, unleashed creativity, and fresh fuel for life. HAC is in need of your support to continue our impact and mission.

Become a sustainer today to ensure ALL artists and art lovers in Hillsborough receive the support and experiences they deserve. With your help, we’ll be able to expand programs so they’re more sustainable and an even greater reflection of the diverse creativity that is flourishing in our hometown. The beautiful thing about supporting the arts is that it directly supports community. Read on to learn more about the benefits of partnering with us.

Did you know…

  • The Hillsborough Arts Council generates over $30,000 in income each year to 55+ artists in our local community.

  • Through the Gallery & Gift Shop, we’re able to nurture and support emerging artists in nearly every medium.

  • We welcome over 7,000 guests annually to explore and shop more than 2,000 unique artworks for sale in our prime location in downtown Hillsborough, NC.

  • Plus, HAC serves as a tourist destination for many first-time visitors, advocating for the other galleries, boutiques, music venues, restaurants, events, and arts partners that surround our Gallery & Gift Shop.

A lot of impact for only 1200 square feet of physical space!

And we’re not done growing. Our vision is to expand our representation of the Hillsborough community as a flourishing artists haven, a safe space for creativity, and a welcoming home for ALL backgrounds.

Will you partner with us to ensure HAC can continue providing access to the arts for all?
